Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using OccamOne, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the portal. These terms govern your use of OccamOne and supplement (but do not replace) any engagement letter or retainer agreement you have signed with Occam Immigration.
What OccamOne Is
OccamOne is a secure client portal operated by OccamLegal LLC, doing business as Occam Immigration. It allows you to:
- View the status of your immigration case
- Upload and access documents related to your matter
- Communicate with your legal team
- Complete tasks assigned by your attorney
- Receive notifications about deadlines and updates
OccamOne is a tool that supports the attorney-client relationship. It is not a substitute for direct communication with your attorney.
Your Account
Account Creation
Your OccamOne account is created by Occam Immigration as part of our onboarding process. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
Accurate Information
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when using OccamOne. If you believe any information in your case file is incorrect, contact your attorney promptly so it can be corrected before any filings are submitted.
Account Security
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential. If you believe your account has been compromised, notify us immediately at info@occam.one. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized access to your account that occurs due to your failure to protect your credentials.
Acceptable Use
When using OccamOne, you agree not to:
- Share your account credentials with anyone, including family members. If a family member needs access, contact your attorney to set up a separate account.
- Upload content that is false, misleading, or fraudulent.
- Attempt to access another client’s information or any part of the system you are not authorized to use.
- Use OccamOne for any purpose other than managing your immigration matter with Occam Immigration.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or extract any part of the OccamOne software.
- Interfere with or disrupt the portal’s operation, security, or infrastructure.
Documents and Content
Your Documents
Documents you upload to OccamOne remain your property. By uploading them, you grant Occam Immigration permission to use them for the purpose of providing legal services in your matter. This permission continues for the duration of our attorney-client relationship and any applicable retention period.
Our Content
The OccamOne portal, including its design, software, text, and features, is owned by OccamLegal LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the portal without our written permission.
Important Disclaimers
Not a Substitute for Legal Advice
Information displayed in OccamOne (such as case status, task descriptions, and general guidance) is provided to help you stay informed about your matter. It does not constitute legal advice. For legal advice specific to your situation, consult directly with your attorney.
Portal Availability
We strive to keep OccamOne available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The portal may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible.
No Guarantees of Outcome
Nothing in OccamOne, including case status indicators, task lists, or communications from your legal team, constitutes a guarantee or prediction of any immigration outcome. Immigration decisions are made by government agencies, and no attorney or software can guarantee a result.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OccamLegal LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of OccamOne. This includes, but is not limited to, damages from service interruptions, data loss, or unauthorized access to your account.
This limitation does not apply to our professional obligations as your attorneys. Our liability for legal malpractice is governed by your engagement letter and applicable law, not by these Terms of Use.
Termination
By You
You may request to close your OccamOne account at any time by contacting your attorney or emailing info@occam.one. Closing your portal account does not terminate the attorney-client relationship; that is governed by your engagement letter.
By Us
We may suspend or terminate your access to OccamOne if you violate these terms, if your engagement with Occam Immigration ends, or if we determine that continued access poses a security risk. We will notify you before or promptly after any suspension or termination.
After Termination
Upon termination, your access to OccamOne will be disabled. Your case records will be retained in accordance with our Privacy Policy and professional retention obligations.
Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina. Any disputes arising from these terms will be resolved in the courts of South Carolina.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page and notify active clients through OccamOne. Continued use of the portal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
